Fall Break...Disneyland!

We decided to go to Disneyland over fall break...
we had a blast but we are definitely
not crazy Disneyland fans.
We were all exhausted by noon so we'd take a few hours
in the afternoon to eat, swim and relax. Then we'd hit the
fast passes in the later afternoon/evening and
were done by dinnertime. We didn't wait more
than 30 minutes for any ride thanks to the
Disneyland ride app and fast passes.
We decided to fly this time and avoid the 10 hour drive.
We flew in to the Long Beach tiny airport.
Much better than LAX!
Can you tell they are not into waiting in lines?
I think this was at the airport on our way
back to Utah. No more waiting for Caleb!
Waiting for the Indiana Jones ride.

Got to have a picture with Tigger...

It was 97 degrees on the first day that we were there. Hot!
Taking a break at Disney City Hall
The kids all loved California Adventure Park better than
Disneyland Park. After a hot day, the evening was fabulous!
Paradise Pier

We all went on California Screamer a few times
and did Toy Story Mania too...Ethan was the
high scorer by leaps and bounds.

Toy Story Mania! Love this ride!

Think Caleb is getting sick of pictures?

Apparently Ryan was sick of pictures too...

Hollywood Studios

Autotopia. Not sure why we do this ride...it's so boring, but
the line was short (wonder why?)
Ryan was the driver in our car. Big mistake!
I'm glad he has several more years until he drives.
He needs a lot of practice!
Caleb and Scott...we crashed into Ireland (below) while
trying to take a picture of Caleb and Scott. Oops..

Super happy boys about to eat! I think they like the food there
as much as the rides.

We went to Downtown Disney a few times.
This is at the Lego store. Amazing lego creations!
Love all those palm trees!

We did an animation class one night that was so cool.
We learned how to draw Pooh Bear.
We've always loved the Aladdin play at Disney and were sad
that it's not there anymore but loved the "Frozen" play.
We were perplexed at why they chose an African American
to play the main character Anya...little weird??
Shuttle ride back to the Airport. It was a great fall break.

Almost caught up!!! Here are highlights of 2016 so far...

Ireland ran for Student Council (Junior Publicity)...
she made the finals but lost to a great guy.
Fortunately, she was put on the Student Council Cabinet.
She has loved every minute of it.
She's a total social butterfly and loves to be involved!

This past summer we went to Newport Beach
(Balboa Peninsula)
The place where we stayed was just steps from the beach

We rode the ferry over to Balboa Island
after walking about 3 miles
(I thought the ferry was closer! My bad!)
Ryan was super happy to ride the ferry! Can you tell?
I think it was the 3 mile walk that was
supposed to be a 1/2 mile.
Oh well, good exercise never killed anyone!
Balboa Island

The kids spent hours and hours playing in the ocean.
They couldn't get enough of it.

Caleb tried out the boogie board.
It's always a bit cold when you first get in...

What a stud :)
And another stud :)
And the biggest stud of them all!
Check out that beautiful sunset! That could be a postcard!
We went to Knott's Berry Farm again, which we love because
it is way less crowded than Disneyland.
The kids love all the wild rides...me, not so much.
I used to but I'm getting old :)

Another day at the beach...all that relaxing is rough

Here's some handsome guy I spotted on the beach...
Love these poses! Especially Ethan. Ha!
Traditional flex picture

First day of school 2016!
Ryan started 6th grade in Mrs. Downs class
Caleb started 4th grade in Mr. Wise's class
Ethan started 8th grade (and puberty!
That kid is getting tall! 5'10" at 14)
One of the reasons I love fall so much is
that it's football season again
Here's Ryan in all his gear (#75)
Ethan is an X man again this year
(hence the big X on his helmet).

It's hard to get an action shot since
Ethan plays the center and it's a jumbled mess
once the ball is snapped, but here is his arm :)

Ryan got into the game a bit :)
Ryan's football team...Bryce Doman coached again this year

Round 1 of family pictures...
Ryan's and Caleb's hair needs to be cut and I'm pretty sure
Ryan was unhappy with wearing pink
This family picture thing is so easy...haha!
That's a fake smile. It is hard work and lots of
 complaining goes on :)

Love the photo bomb by Cy! Lorenne's family always
takes family pictures when we do so
we can swap taking each others family picture.
Ethan turns 14! The real start to puberty and teenagehood!
He's not so bad. Only sometimes :)
I checked Ethan and a few of his friends out of school
for lunch and ordered Buffalo Wild Wings (Ethan's favorite!)
for his birthday. They were in heaven!
(from left to right...Cy, Eli, Ethan, Luke, and Max)
I love this sign posted as you walk into the gym
 for kids rec basketball games...
a good reminder to all the overachiever parents
pushing hard for their kids to be the star. Ha!
Here's the star. Ha Ha!

Love the tongue in check action going on
Here's our other star  :)

And the 3rd star...a bit wiped out after the game

Vacation to St. George over Spring Break.
We rented Razors and took them on
the sand dunes and had a blast!
I think this is Ireland in the driver's seat above
(and Ethan of course at the back)
Ryan even got to drive them. He was on cloud nine.
Here's Lorenne and Rob and their crew who rode the
sand dunes too but had some bad luck
and broke an axel on their Razor :(
Since Ryan's and Caleb's birthdays are only
4 days apart, we combined their birthday parties.
We took all these kids to a movie
and pizza. It was a bit of chaos!
Ryan got his Arrow of Light!
Doesn't he look thrilled?

He also had the traditional 5th grade
"Hope of America" performance
Ryan was sitting somewhere in
that mass of yellow.
Ireland was inducted (sworn in?) into Student Council
Here she is taking the oath to be awesome and be a leader
and be kind to everyone and all that good stuff
Ryan and his friend Griffin were on the
same soccer team again this year.
I think their team lost about half of the games,
 but they had fun.
Ethan's last season of soccer. Boo Hoo!
I'm super sad but he's happy. That big football body
doesn't love running for an hour straight (what?).
He played mid field and got some good exercise
every game, but unfortunately he didn't see the
great value in that like I did!
School programs...Caleb above on the right (white shirt) and Ryan below on the right
(in the red, white, and blue shirt). Taken by the iPhone..obviously super focused and clear.

We went to the Loveland Living Aquarium
finally after getting free tickets for several
years from the Lovelands. It was great!
That is one huge mouth!
Doug (Grandpa Hacking) won the
Lifetime Achievement Award in Pediatrics.
He's been a pediatrician for countless years.
He is almost 75 years old and still practicing.
I think he'd prefer to practice until he dies,
but he is going to retire next summer.
He's made a huge contribution to
pediatric medicine! All his kids/in-laws
were invited to a luncheon to honor him.
Ryan and Griffin got to go to a BYU football camp
over the summer. Here is one of BYU's players.
Is he huge or what?
Ryan and Griffin with one of the coaches of the camp
Griffin's family invited Ryan to be an extra on BYU's
Studio C movie. Grant (above) who is Griffin's dad,
knew the guy who was producingthe show,
so Ryan lucked out and will be an extra
in the Studio C movie that is coming out.
Here is Ryan with two of the Studio C cast, Griffin
and his two cutie sisters, Sienna and Capri.
We went to Tuacahn again and saw "Tarzan".
Ryan's friend from our ward,
 Cairo, played the young Tarzan
Cairo and Ryan after the performance
Our ward youth went on"Trek" this summer.
Even though Ireland and Ethan were less than
thrilled to go, they both came home happy
and were glad they went. Yay!
Eli and Ethan
I think they love wearing pioneer clothes.(Ha!)
Ryan did a week long acting camp this summer.
It was a "Harry Potter" camp. He and Cam
had a great time.
He had a good time and they put on a show for t
he parents at the end of the camp.
Caleb's soccer team played in the
Park City Cup soccer tournament.
All of our games were in Oakley.
 It was beautiful there.
Caleb and his teammates sprayed their hair red for the game.
Caleb's team played great and only lost one game
which put them in the championship game.
They ended up playing the same team
they lost to and won the championship!
They were pretty excited! Can you tell?

Some ward ladies went to
Manilla park with our kids...

Griff and Ry
Caleb has gone kayaking at Highland Glen Park with
his friend Tyler a couple times this summer
Scott decided to cut down a huge tree
that was blocking a bit of our house.
Sometimes he's crazy :)
The tree was taller than our two story house.
But of course he did a great job of it.
He may be crazy sometimes but he sure is cute!
This is cousin Caleb (we call him baby Caleb) with Scott.
He is a chunk of a baby. So so cute!
I went to one of Caleb's soccer games last week and it
rained hard the whole game. As soon as the whistle blew
ending the game, the sun came out and it stopped raining.
The rainbow was right over Burgess park
which is right by our house. Love the trees!
Family pictures...

Round 2 Family pictures :). Ethan and Ireland are
actually taller than me even though it doesn't look like it.
Ethan is 5'10" and Ireland is 5'8".
Ryan will pass me up soon too. He is 5'2" and I'm 5'5".
